I'm currently studying Communication at the University of San Diego with a minor in Spanish, where I've found myself drawn to the stories happening in the communities around me.

My path into journalism has taken me through student media, research and professional newsrooms. I'm currently a Digital Intern at NBC 7 and Telemundo 20, while also serving as Features Editor for The USD Vista.

At The Vista, I've learned how to find stories, interview sources, write and edit under deadlines, pitch ideas and think about how a story should be presented to readers.

At NBC 7 and Telemundo 20, I've experienced the pace of a professional newsroom and learned how digital journalism operates in real time.

I'm particularly interested in local journalism because I believe the stories happening close to home matter. I'm also interested in digital storytelling and the ways journalists can use writing, video, social media and other tools to connect with audiences.

My Spanish minor and time studying abroad in Madrid have also strengthened my interest in connecting with diverse communities and continuing to develop as a bilingual journalist.

Beyond the Newsroom

When I'm not reporting or editing, I'm usually working on creative projects, exploring San Diego, or finding another way to tell a story.
